With early general elections still a possibility, party work has started taking a toll of senior leaders. Some of the Cabinet ministers are so engrossed in party work that switching on and off between their responsibilities in the party and their ministries is becoming difficult. Union Minister for Steel Ramvilas Paswan’s preoccupation with his party affairs was quite tangible at the signing of an MoU among the Railways, the Chhattisgarh Government and the Steel Ministry. He referred to the Steel Secretary as “party secretary” in the presence of Lalu Prasad Yadav and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh setting off a bout of laughter. Only, Lalu did not seem amused.
