Arjun Singh made his once-in-a-couple-of-months public appearance in the past week. The occasion was a review of minority education programmes by his Human Resource Development Ministry. The best moment and the answer came when a scribe asked him if he was holding the meeting to re-establish himself as a true champion of minorities. Singh had a candid answer: “Ees dhande mein pachaas saal ho gaye hain…ab koi naya motive dhoondhne ki zaroorat nahi hai (I have spent 50 years in this profession, now there isn’t any need to search for a new motive).”
