Keeping mum and being mum-that was Sonia Gandhi at the Prime Minister’s dinner to mark the fourth year of the UPA Government last week. Since she decided not to talk to the press, much of the media hankered after her son Rahul Gandhi. Sonia was silent, but not ignorant of all that was happening around her. At one point she told the CPI(M)’s Brinda Karat, seated at her table, that she was worried about her son being kept away from his dinner. A surprised Karat stared back at the Congress President. After all Rahul is a public figure. Sonia disarmingly explained: “Mothers worry, you know.”
