CHANDIGARH, Dec 6: To assess the situation in the local unit of the BJP and to help sort out differences within the party, BJP national vice-president Krishan Lal Sharma today held day-long discussions with various party leaders. The BJP leader, who arrived here last evening, is on a fact-finding mission to know the reasons why the local partymen have drifted apart, following which the infighting within the party has spilt into the streets. He will submit his report on the continuing infighting in the party's local unit and suspension of seven of city councillors to party president Kushabhau Thakre by tomorrow, after returning to Delhi. One of the warring factions owes allegiance to the party's local president Dharam Paul Gupta and the group of suspended councillors owes allegiance to local MP Satya Pal Jain.Sharma held discussions with both the factions separately, besides holding a meeting of the party's core committee and its working committee. He also met local RSS leaders in the RSS office and held discussions with them.Earlier, at a press conference at the UT State Guest House, Sharma said that he would report the matter to the party high command for taking appropriate action to bring unity among the warring factions.``The problem is not that serious, but it needs to be reviewed immediately to curb any indiscipline,'' he said, adding that ``the matter would be sorted out soon''.The suspended councillors had earlier impressed upon the party leader to revoke the suspension order against the seven councillors, besides restoring sanity to the present party leadership. Incidentally, party general secretary Mahaveer Prasad was missing during today's party deliberations. To a query as to how local BJP leaders were openly giving press statements against each other, Sharma said that it amounted to indiscipline, and that it would be sorted out. He did not give any indication on the kind of action to be taken against such partymen.
