Taslima should be given political asylum: RSS

The reactions of Sangh Parivar come days after BJP's demand that Taslima Nasreen be treated as a political refugee.

Joining the raging controversy over Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen, the RSS demanded political asylum for her.

“She should be given political asylum,” RSS chief K S Sudarshan said on the sidelines of the release of the book, Saffron Surge, written by Tarun Vijay.

Jag ke thukrae logo ko, lo mere ghar ka khula dwar (People deserted by others are welcome to my place),” he said when asked Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s stand on the issue.

The Sangh leader refused to comment on the CPM’s action on the matter.

The Vishwa Hindu Parisad’s international president Ashok Singhal said the freedom of the writer should be respected.

“We are in support of freedom of expression of people. Bangladesh government should realise and act on it,” he said.

Asked whether the government should extend her visa, which expires in February next year, he said, “it up to the government to take a decision”.

The reactions of the Sangh Parivar comes days after the BJP’s demand that the Bangladeshi writer be treated as a political refugee and slammed the Centre for remaining silent on the issue.
