India’s top cricketers can now heave a sigh of relief with the Board of Control for Cricket in India finally sorting out the tax issue with their Australian counterparts. It has now been made clear that Indian cricketers will be taxed only on the prize money they earn on the ongoing tour of Australia.
BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah held discussions with Cricket Australia (CA) officials and said that touring cricketers would be taxed only on the prize money they earn on this tour.
“It’s not their match fees which would be taxed in Australia on this tour. It’s their prize money which would be taxed. It’s the law of the land,” Shah said today.
