Teacher rescued from manhole by umbrella

NEW DELHI, January 8: An umbrella saved a school teacher who fell into a manhole in Inderpuri yesterday. The Naraina road was waterlogged and the teacher couldn’t see the gaping hole. As she fell, she held onto her umbrella. Passersby saw a frantically waving hand and the umbrella, and pulled her out. Meena Sachdeva works in the SKR Public School in the area. She said that she knew exactly where the manhole is, as she has to sidestep it every day. As the area was waterlogged last morning she couldn’t see the hole as she waded through the ankle-deep water.
