Demanding compensation for Tehelka and angel investors First Global, both hammered out of existence by the NDA government after their defence corruption expose three years ago, editor in chief Tarun Tejpal has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Cabinet colleagues, requesting them to ensure justice.Foremost, Tejpal demanded the scrapping of the Justice Phukan Commission of Inquiry, whose entire focus has been in distorting truth, not revealing it.Secondly, Tejpal has demanded that the Justice Venkatswami report on the 15 real defence deal transactions be made public. ‘‘The hearing on this was held in camera. Tehelka demands that this report be tabled and made public,’’ Tejpal said.Third, penalise all government servants and bearers of public office who committed perjury in the Commission of Inquiry and seriously compromised themselves and the reputation of the State of India by lying on sworn affidavits and last, put a stop to political vendetta.Accusing the NDA government of taking an active, immoral and vicious stand against Tehelka and First Global, Tejpal said not a single person caught on the tapes was investigated; nor were affidavits filed.Meanwhile, the official declaration by the Justice Phukan Commission is slated for June 21.
