Prominent Hindu and Muslim leaders have worked out a temporary solution to the issue of the gate to a graveyard over which communal clashes broke out last week in the city, official sources said. Under the interim agreement reached at a meeting of the leaders of both the communities at the district magistrate’s residence yesterday, the iron gate to the Shahjamal graveyard would remain as such but would be kept open under police vigilance round-the-clock, they said. District magistrate S M Bobde said that the representatives of the Shahjamal graveyard committee and the office-bearers of the Hindu cremation ground would meet again after a few days to find a permanent solution. Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad has constituted a ‘ fact finding committee’ comprising leaders Ramnath Mahendroo and Rajendra Singh ‘Pankaj’, besides Bajrang Dal chief Prakash Sharma to unravel the ‘‘truth’’ behind the riots.
