MUMBAI, Sept 28: Two persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of a cable operator, Rajesh Natwarlal Doshi (36), yesterday in Wagle Estate area of Thane.
Papa Surve and his brother, Rajendra Surve, described by the police as small-time extortionists, were picked up by the police this evening. However, a few others who had allegedly assisted the duo in killing the cable operator are absconding.
Doshi, a resident of Mulund, ran his cable business in Wagle Estate and was raking in a good profit. He had recently received extortion threats from Papa Surve following which he had approached Police Commissioner Bhujangrao Mohite for help. Papa Surve was subsequently arrested on July 31.However, after his release from the jail, he sought revenge and murdered the cable operator near Adarsh Medical Stores in Wagle Estate area.
A police officer said that Doshi was offered police protection which he had refused.
