This month, it seems, will give the city fewer reasons to crib about international music makers giving it a royal ignore. Because just before Jethro Tull touches base in Kolkata, the Thomas Siffling Trio will be here to enthrall music lovers. The trio, which features, Thomas Siffling (trumpet), Jens Loh (bass) and Markus Faller ( drums), is popular for a brand of music that strikes a chord with the young metal lover and the follower of classics alike. Acoustic jazz and electronic grove music met together to give the trio its distinctive character. “They blend myriad sounds like the wah wah trumpet of the 70s, the Cayon, a Darabukka, or an African Drum,” says S V Raman of the Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata. The confluence of sounds, therefore, appeals to a cross section of people with varied tastes in music.
“The sound is distinctly different from the kind of metal that the city youth seem to be high on these days. However, since it is groovy in nature, it is most likely to go down well with the youth,” adds Raman.
The concert will be held at the Palladian Lounge at the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry on November 26
