To make the students aware about the existing trends in the field of management, an interactive session on ‘Career Opportunities in Management’ was held at the Post-graduate Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship of GGDSD College, Sector 32 on Friday.

A lecture on the key specialisations of management was given by Prof Dhananjay Singh of ICFAI, Hyderabad. He further informed the students about the various skills required to be a successful management executive.

Prof Singh stressed on the need to develop — problem solving abilities, analytical abilities, an out of the box thinking, communication skills, ability to work in a team, flexibility, adaptability and cross functional expertise — if one wants be successful in the corporate world.

He settled the doubts and concerns of the students regarding the impact of the global meltdown on the economic scene and job market for the management executives. He also referred to the Obama effect, outsourcing and explained how India has become an important hub for manpower.

He even made an effort to project the nature and number of jobs to be generated by 2010 in various sectors of the economy.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Nisha Angrish, head, PG Department of Economics and Entrepreneurship of the college.
