CHANDIGARH, JUNE 2: In an anti-encroachment drive, the enforcement wing of the UT Estate Office today demolished 35 jhuggis in Gwala Colony at the railway crossing near Manimajra.

The operation, supervised by executive Magistrate D. S. Baloria, started at 11 a.m. and continued till 1 p.m. Enforcement wing officials said that no untoward incident was reported during the operation. Officials said that demolished jhuggis were raised two months ago while colony residents said that they have been settled here for the last seven years.

In another operation, the enforcement wing of the Municipal Corporation today removed 10 kiosks from Mauli Jagran today.

A senior MC official told Newsline that it was a routine drive which will be continued in other parts of the city tomorrow.
