In A landmine explosion in the border Devigarh village of Arnia in R.S. Pura sector here, an army lieutenant and a junior commissioned officer lost their lives while a Major and three jawans sustained critical injuries. Two days back, two non-commissioned officers were injured in different landmine explosions in the border Pindi village of R.S. Pura.

The demining work is going on in the villages that fall along the International Border here for the past two months or so. Today, troops of 63-Engineering Regiment of Army were removing mines from fields adjoining the Chawni BSF post in Devigarh when one of the jawans inadvertently stepped over a mine, which then went off. Sources told The Indian Express that in the explosion, Lt G.B. Bule and JCO, Naib-Subedar Ajmer Singh were killed on the spot and Major Banerjee and three sepoys injured seriously.
