COIMBATORE, May 28: The race for the title is not yet over. The final day on Thursday will decide the fate of the players in the National Children’s Chess Championship organised by the Coimbatore District Chess Association at the PSG Tech auditorium here.

RR Laxman and Mahesh Chandran, CV Rajalakshmi, JE Kavitha (all from Tamil Nadu) and G Soumya of Maharashtra were in the hunt for the title in the under-14 section for boys and girls respectively.

MR Venkatesh of Tamil Nadu and Arghyadip Das of GNCA, Tania Sachdev of Delhi and N Vinuthna of Andhra Pradesh have brightened their chances with seven points from eight rounds in the under-12 section for boys and girls respectively.

CV Rajalakshmi, who stunned top seed JE Kavitha of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, failed to find her form, going down to seventh seed G Soumya in 37 moves.
