Tamil Nadu government has decided to undertake a census of transgenders in the state. A decision in this regard was taken at the first meeting of the newly constituted Tamil Nadu Transgenders Welfare Board in Chennai on Thursday, an official press release said.The meeting presided over by state Social Welfare minister Geetha Jeevan, also decided to issue separate identity cards to transgenders.Besides deciding to organise computer classes and open separate libraries, it also decided to set up separate rest houses for Transgenders to stay when they went on tour.The meeting instructed the district collectors to organise grievances redressal days for transgenders once in three months, the release added.All the voluntary organisations, involved for the betterment of transgenders had been asked to register themselves with the district social welfare officers.
