All say that a father-daughter relation is very special and it is truely so, as your support and guidance has shown.
Dad, though Mamma and you have contributed equally to my upbringing, it is those little unique ways of your showering love and concern, that makes you stand out as my dad. Being the daughter of working parents, you always took an effort towards sharing domestic responsibilities, particularly where my diet and studies were concerned.
I remember, as a kid, I used to dread the mornings, because every morning brought along with it a breakfast (of milk, egg and apple) and no well-planned efforts on my part would deter you to let me go off the breakfast. The weekends would get you down to cutting my toe-nails while I sat hooked on to the television watching Ramayan. At times, when I did hurt myself, you would hold my hand, comforting me and sharing my sobs, while Mom would nurse my wound. Be it time for school to reopen, you would get busy covering my books with brown paper. But, as I grew up, you taught me to become independent, and so I mastered the art of covering books, polishing my own shoes, working on my studies alone – making yourself available only when the need arose. You no longer coaxed me into having something against my wishes and always encouraged me to take my own decisions. Your idea of giving me a small amount as pocket money and the gift of mini bank’ on my tenth birthday, certainly did help me in cash management.
Your trust instilled confidence in me to take those small decisions and now it helps me to make a choice in the major issues in life. You have helped me to be more resolute and meticulous. Involving me while discussing problems and looking upon me for suggestions, has given me a sense of importance and has certainly helped to bridge the generation gap. In the wake of troubles and adversities, it is your courage and love that has helped me to tide over the waves in life. To my most wonderful dad, these are a few lines that spill right from the bottom of my heart: — To dear dad of mine, In rain and in sunshine, It has been your solicitude and confidence, That has held on to me as jewels – so priceless.
Happy Father’s Day’ is just a wish to show how much you mean to me, Much more than what mere words can say.
