CHANDIGARH, JAN 21: The local unit of the Shiromani Akali Dal has accused SGPC chief G.S. Tohra of misusing the authority of Akal Takht for issuing politically motivated hukamnamas.
In a statement issued here today, SAD local unit president Gurpratap Singh Riar said that Tohra stood exposed and was thus using Akal Takht forsurvival.
Riar called upon Tohra to convene the meeting of the SGPC executive committee or general house, which would clear any confusion about his popularity. He has also sought his resignation from the SGPC presidentship.
