Too many briefs

The chief troubleshooter that he has been, Kapil Sibal is sought out by the Congress on all important matters, from Sethusamudram to the nuclear deal to the Gujarat elections. But the way responsibilities are being heaped on him, Sibal is hardly being able to do justice to them. He was sent to Annapolis in the US for the West Asia peace talks and was then called to lead the Indian delegation for the climate change talks in Bali at the last minute but without being relieved of his Gujarat duties. So a day before he was to leave for Indonesia, Sibal was touring Gujarat instead of preparing his brief for the talks. Even while in Bali, his mind remained half-occupied with Gujarat and he sent a press release on an alleged multi-crore rupee scam involving the Narendra Modi Government. Not surprisingly, therefore, neither the allegations of the scam nor his performance in Bali created much of an impact. Now, as he returns from Bali, there are rumours of a much-awaited Cabinet reshuffle and Sibal would surely have another thing to think about
