CHANDIGARH, Jan 25: In view of the Republic Day function being held at Sector 17 Parade Ground and at Punjab Raj Bhawan, some traffic restrictions will come into effect tomorrow. As a result, the Chandigarh Police have advised the road-users to make use of alternative routes.

According to sources, the road stretch from roundabout of sectors 16, 17, 22, 22, 25 up to small rotary near Gurdial Singh’s petrol pump in Sector 22-A on Udyog Path, from crossing of sectors 16 and 17 up to the roundabout of sectors 16, 17, 22, 23 on Jan Marg and from light point near Layon’s Restaurant Sector 17 up to Parade ground, shall remain closed to general public from 7 am onwards on Tuesday till the function at Parade-Ground is over.

The VIPs and senior officers with authorised car parking labels on their vehicles, shall be allowed entry from the roundabout of sectors 16, 17, 22, 23 on Udyog Path and they can park their vehicles in the parking area in front of market of Sector 22-A.

The general public can park their vehicles in the parking area of market Sector 22-B, adjacent to Sector 32-B Blood Disease Hospital, on rear side of Neelam Theatre, in the parking area of Football Stadium and in the Circus Ground in Sector 17.

All buses from Haryana, Punjab, Himchal and other places, coming to ISBT, shall be diverted towards ISBT chowk from Bajwara chowk and Piccadily chowk via Himalya Marg.

For Punjab Raj Bhawan function, the road stretch from roundabout of sectors 5,6,7,8 up to T-point, Golf-club, and from T-point near Punjab Raj Bhawan onwards, towards the residence of Adviser to the Administrator, will also remain closed to general public from 2 pm onwards till the function at Punjab Raj Bhawan concludes.

Invitees to “At Home” function with “pink car parking labels” shall park their vehicles in the parking area on the rear side of Adviser’s residence. A lighting facility shall be provided in front of the entry gate of Punjab Raj Bhawan.

Self-driven cars of the senior citizens with “pink car parking labels”, shall be allowed parking area towards mini-zoo.

Invitees with “green car parking labels” should use the road from turn of sector 7, 8 onwards for parking their vehicles in the parking area adjacent to Adviser’s residence in Sector 7.

Members of Golf Club are requested to use the road from SGGS college side for coming to the Golf Club, from 2 pm onwards tomorrow.
