The day Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati returned from her 15-day foreign tour, the Crime Branch of the CID served summons on former BSP minister Amar Mani Tripathi in the poetess Madhumita Shukla murder case which he had earlier refused to accept.
He has been asked to appear before the investigating officer of the CB-CID within two days, police sources said today. Officials claim that an attempt had been made to serve summons to Tripathi yesterday, but he had refused to accept it. Later the CB-CID sought help of SSP, Lucknow Vijay Kumar in serving the summons to the sacked minister, which Tripathi is believed to have personally received.
Just four days are left for the CB-CID to complete the probe according to the time frame set by Mayawati, who had asked the investigating agency to complete it within one month.
