In Two separate operations against militants, police and Rashtriya Rifles killed 10 foreign militants including three divisional commanders and a fidayeen commander in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

An Army spokesman said militants hiding in the house of one Mohammad Ashan Lone in Kumar mohallan, Sogam village in Kupwara, opened fire on 19 RR personnel. The troops were conducting searches early today.

In the encounter which lasted 14 hours, six militants belonging to Lashkar-e-Toiba and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen were killed. The deceased included LeT divisional commander Abu Asghar Khan, Harkat divisional commander Abu Hinjal and LeT fidayeen commander Abu Imran Hinjal, all residents of Pakistan.

In another operation in village Fidderpora in Baramulla, Army personnel killed four foreign militants including a divisional commander of Al-Badr militant outfit.
