A day after four Telengana Rashtra Samiti members resigned from the Lok Sabha, 16 party MLAs and three MLCs resigned from the Andhra Pradesh House on Tuesday protesting against the delay in the creation of a separate Telengana state. As soon as the Assembly met, TRS members raised slogans and waved their resignation letters at the Speaker asking for permission to speak. There was chaos and Speaker K R Suresh Reddy adjourned the proceedings for 10 minutes after calling the TRS members for a meeting in his chamber. When the Assembly proceedings resumed, TRS floor leader Vijayram Reddy announced the resignations. Reddy said that the Congress had failed to fulfil their pre-poll promise of a Telengana state. “The Congress has betrayed the people of Telengana. We have waited for four years, but the Government has not even initiated the process,” he said. TRS MLCs Dilip Kumar, Satyanarayana and Rehman also handed over their resignations on Tuesday.
