CHANDIGARH, MARCH 21: On the basis of a complaint filed by Ashish Kundra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate cum Land Acquisition Officer, the police have registered a case against two residents of Kumbra village, near here, who allegedly defrauded the department to claim a land compensation of nearly Rs 12 lakhs.

Police sources said Jarnail Singh and Karnail Singh passed themselves as legal heirs of Kehar Singh, to claim the compensation. They also produced a copy of the mutation. While claiming the amount, they concealed two major facts: that this mutation was under litigation and that mutation for this land had not been sanctioned. This was discovered when an advocate representing the widow of Kehar Singh, appeared before the SDM and stated that the mutation was contested. Cops still clueless about Bariana’s accident The police said as this concealment and representation of wrong facts is tantamount to fraud, they have registered a case for cheating.
