Two cops among three hurt in mishaps

Chandigarh, March 25: Two policemen were among three persons injured in two separate accidents here, during the past 24 hours.

A constable, Manjit Singh and gunman, Gurnam Singh were injured when a Police Control Room motorcycle they were riding was reportedly hit by a Maruti car. The car fled the spot after the accident. Both the injured have been admitted in hospital.Police sources said the accident occurred at the traffic light-point near the Sector 18 Government Press late last night. The police have registered a case.

In a separate accident, Kamaljit Singh of S.A.S. Nagar was seriously injured when his scooter was reportedly knocked down by a truck near the roundabout of Sectors 20,21, 33 and 34 here this evening. The truck driver left the vehicle at the spot and fled. The police have impounded the vehicle and registered a case.He has been admitted to the PGI where his condition is reported to be serious.
