CHANDIGARH, Oct 30: Two constables of the Chandigarh Police were arrested by the Haryana police on Thursday morning for allegedly kidnapping a resident of Panipat and keeping him in illegal confinement for two days in the Sector 11 Police Station.

The constables Sanjeev Kumar, who is posted with the police control room and Ram Saran, posted in the Sector 11 police station reportedly kidnapped Sudarshan Kumar from the residence of his brother-in-law, Krishan Lal, in Panipat on October 28.

City SSP C S R Reddy,

while confirming the incident, said that the said victim was detained in the police station barracks. He added that the two constables have been suspended and an inquiry has been ordered.

However, the SHO of Sector 11 Police Station, while confirming the alleged incident said that he was not aware about where exactly Sudarshan Kumar had been detained. "Ram Saran, who is posted here has been on leave since October 27, while Constable Sanjeev Kumar has been absent from duty since October 25," he said.

He confirmed that a police party from Panipat, headed by a sub-inspector had arrested the two Chandigarh policemen from the police station on Thursday morning.

According to sources, a case was registered by the Panipat police against the two for "kidnapping for ransom".
