ITANAGAR, JAN 11: The ruling Arunachal Congress suffered yet another blow today when two more ministers of the Gegong Apang Ministry resigned in protest against the Chief Minister’s “misrule.”

In all 17 ministers have resigned since Saturday. Forest and Environment Minister Lijum Ronia and Minister of State for Industries Tsering Gyurme quit today.

The ruling party also suffered heavily when all grassroot workers, including block office-bearers, resigned from the primary membership of the party.Arunachal Congress (M) sources said some more ministers are likely to resign in a day or two protesting against Apang’s “misrule”.

The 17 ministers described as, “illegal and unconsttitutional” the January 9 Cabinet meeting which recommended dissolution of the State Assembly.

In a letter to State Governor Mata Prasad, the ministers said though they were in the State Capital, the Chief Minister did not not invite them to the Cabinet meeting. They also pointed out that since their resignations were yet tobe accepted, they should have been invited to the Cabinet meeting.

The Chief Minister had met the Governor yesterday and submitted the Cabinet resolution recommending dissolution of the State Assembly. But the Governor did not not accept it and asked Apang to seek a confidence vote in the Assembly on January 18.
