SURAT, Jan 12: Barely 24 hours after Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s visit to the trouble-torn Dangs district of Gujarat, two more prayer halls of the Christian community were allegedly set afire in the tribal dominated villages of Duha and Lehancharia, about 30 kms from Ahwa yesterday.

Giving details of the incident which occurred in Dhua in the wee hours, official sources a complaint had been registered for alleged attempt of arson and burning a front part of the wooden portion of the prayer hall.

The fire was put out by the villagers, sources said adding that the miscreants managed to make good their escape. A special posse of SRP had rushed to the village and all precautions were taken by the Dangs district rural police.

Meanwhile, a SOS had been received from the priest in Lehancharia village regarding an arson attempt and a police team had rushed to assess the situation.

Details of the situation are still awaited as the police party was yet to return from there, police said. No arrests hadbeen made so far in connection with these incidents, sources said adding the overall situation was `tense’ but peaceful in the entire region.
