CHANDIGARH, Nov 13: Two students sustained injuries in an aleged attack by members of a rival group at hostel number 6 of Punjab University late last night. Personal rivalry is believed to be the cause behind the brawl.

Sundeep Sharma and Sharad Pawar, B.Sc second-year students of the Department of Physics, were reportedly injured when they were attacked by a member of Punjab University Students’ Union (PUSU) and his friends while the two were celebrating the birthday of their classmate, Jagmeet Sidhu, who is the secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI).

Sundeep said

the PUSU activists and his friends were armed with hockey sticks. The PU security was informed of the incident and a complaint has been lodged with the police.
