PATIALA, May 12: The Tohra group of the Shriomani Akali Dal (SAD) received a jolt in its home district when two of its leaders today joined hands with the Badal group.

Bhupinder Singh Chawla and Kanwaljit Singh Sehgal, the two general secretaries of Patiala district, Akali Jatha (Urban), put their full faith in Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s leadership and promised to support Jathedar Manmohan Singh Bajaj, member of the working committee, SAD, to speed up developmental projects in the city.

Akali leaders Jathedar Manmohan Singh Bajaj, Kanwarjit Singh Kapur, former MC, Babu Singh Guram, general secretary, SAD and Kamlesh Kaur, member SGPC, welcomed Chawla and Sehgal’s decision. They appealed to Badal to take quick action against Gurcharan Singh Tohra for “anti-party activities” so that discipline is maintained in the party.
