Scotland Yard has launched a nation-wide hunt for the cousin of a Pakistani bride-to-be who was stabbed to death on her wedding day here recently.

The 21-year old Saida Bibi was found with multiple knife wounds at her house in Saltley, Birmingham, hours before the traditional marriage ceremony was due to take place. She died at the scene despite efforts of paramedics to save her.

Police are looking for Rafaquat Hussain, 37, from Camberley, Surrey, who was said to be unhappy about the marriage and quarrelled with the bride before she was attacked.

Friends and relatives who had gathered for the wedding heard the bride screaming from an upstairs bedroom.

Hussain’s details have been circulated to all ports and airports, but police fear he has already flown to Pakistan.

The bridegroom, Zafar Hussein, 28, of Barnsley, also suffered stab wounds as he tried to stop the knifeman fleeing from the house via the garden. He was recovering in hospital.
