The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Uma Bharati, has decided to end her ‘‘sabbatical’’ and return to active politics.According to former Uttaranchal minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition L.K. Advani had a telephonic conversation with Bharati where he persuaded her to come back and participate in the party’s national council meet scheduled to be held on October 27. Nishank said that Bharati started climbing down from Madhmaheshwar to Ukkhimath yesterday. She would visit the Kedarnath shrine before returning to the national Capital, he added. The firebrand BJP leader, annoyed with the way her ‘‘Tiranga Yatra’’ was ‘‘ignored’’ by her own party colleagues, had come to the Himalayas a fortnight ago on a month’s ‘‘sabbatical from politics’’. She had initially planned to stay at Madhmaheshwar temple till Diwali next month.Bharati had complained of uneasiness and chest pain, and the Uttaranchal government and her party had sent a helicopter to persuade her to come back. A medical team was also rushed to attend to her. However, Bharati refused to come back before completing her ‘‘yogic sadhna’’ at the famous shrine.
