NEW DELHI, DEC 1: The United Front (UF) today virtually urged President KR Narayanan to dissolve the Lok Sabha and order fresh elections to prevent horse-trading and end the political stalemate.Leaders of the multi-party coalition led by UF chairman HD Deve Gowda said after their meeting with the President that none of the political formations was in a position to form a Government ``except through horse-trading''.They appealed to the President not to delay his decision any further. ``People will lose faith in democracy unless a quick decision is taken,'' said Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) general secretary Harkishen Singh Surjeet. ``We tried to impress upon him that he should not allow the denigration of Parliament,'' he added. The UF reiterated the solidarity among its constituents. Even the doubtfuls, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC), said there was no question of supporting any other formation.Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its efforts to create divisions in the UF and the Congress, Surjeet asserted that it would not be able to add even a single member to its strength. BJP leader Atal Behari Vajpayee's call for a realignment of forces exposed the party's bankruptcy, he said.
