The Rashtriya Lok Dal, headed by Ajit Singh, on Monday termed as “undemocratic” the decision by the UNPA to abstain from voting in presidential poll and said the move showed its inability to uphold constitutional responsibilities. “With its decision to abstain from presidential poll, the UNPA has clearly proved its inability to uphold constitutional responsibilities.
Their decision by any standard, is unfair, undemocratic and a deliberate attempt to create a constitutional conflict,” RLD General Secretary Mankunnil Suresh said in a statement. He said the elected MPs and the MLAs are under obligation to carry out their constitutional duties and “deliberately keeping off, therefore, violating the oath of obligation”.
