AHMEDABAD, July 30: The Congress high command administered the first dose of shock treatment to Janata Dal(G) faction leader Urmilaben Patel for “plotting” against Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela when it dropped her from the first list of AICC members from Gujarat.

The list of 28 AICC members declared yesterday by Pradesh Returning Officer V Narayanswamy includes all prominent Congress leaders except Urmilaben Patel.

As reported by The Indian Express, Urmilaben Patel was likely to be left out from the list of AICC members for “shocking display of personal ambition”. Senior Congress leaders, including Madhavsingh Solanki, Ahmed Patel and Chabbildas Mehta had made representations to party president Sitaram Kesri seeking strong objections against Patel.

This is the second jolt to the JD(G) leader for her revolt to topple the Government, after she lost the Pradesh delegates election from Vadodara. However, she was later included in the PCC delegates list as a special case. The JD(G) members have now started making representation on Patel’s behalf and according to indications available here, she is likely to be included in the second list of 14 AICC members soon.

Interestingly, Narhari Amin and Chabbildas Mehta are not among those making representations on Patel’s behalf.

Among those included in the first list of AICC members are: Prabodh Raval, Amarsinh Chowdhary, Madhavsinh Solanki, Ahmed Patel, Zinabhai Darji, B K Gadhvi, C D Patel, Sanat Mehta, Manoharsinh Jadeja, Narsinhbhai Mahwana and Chabbildas Mehta Narhari Amin, Brahmkumar Bhatt, Kumudben Joshi, Shaktisinh Gohil, Arvind Sanghvi, Arvind Sanghavi and Harubhai Mehta.
