The US wanted to stay neutral on the ruling coalition’s decision to impeach Musharraf and appeared willing to arrange for an “honourable stay” for him in Pakistan should he agree to quit, the Dawn reported. Musharraf on Monday discussed the move to impeach him with US Ambassador N W Patterson, local media reported. However, a presidential spokesman denied that any such meeting had taken place.
