BHIWANI, JAN 22: After the alleged beating up of the Vaish College Principal, Ami Lal, by some students last week, the situation in the college campus has become tense and the principal, after putting in his resignation before the college managing committee in protest against the same, has left for his home town. The attack on the principal was, allegedly, a conspiracy by a rowdy section of the students and work shirking lecturers.

, to show their resentment against the stringent measures taken by him in an attempt to restore some discipline to the otherwise turbulent college.

Sources say that the principal annoyed a section of the lecturers by prohibiting them from leaving the college premises in the college working hours which, allegedly, obstructed the tuition sessions that they held in their homes. They are alleged to have instigated some section of the students to teach the principal a lesson for enforcing discipline on the teachers and the students alike.

The college, once known for its good academic record, discipline amongst the studeents and dedication of its teaching staff, has turned into a turbulent place where peace and tranquility have become a thing of the past and daily strikes and rowdyism by the students a daily routine. This has left the parents of the students worried about the future of their wards. The seriousness of the situation can be judged from the fact that the sixth monthly tests which were held in December last, could only be conducted under strict surveillance by the police force. The same was the situation in Government College here. The extent of indiscipline in the college can be judged by the fact that during the last 7 years, 8 principals have been changed by the management in a bid to control the chaotic situation. Ami Lal, who was known for his ability to restore discipline was appointed as the principal by the college managing committee last year, to set things right. His efforts, however, proved to be futile.

Some lecturers are of the view that the principal failed to handle the situation tactfully and his arrogance caused much annoyance among the teaching staff, as well as the student community and resulted in such chaotic conditions in the college campus.

It is allegedly the political ambition of the lecturers, students and political leaders of various parties that has further deteriorated the situation in the college.
