The Uttar Pradesh BJP, gearing up for the party’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ in Kanpur on June 27, seems to have totally ignored former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in its publicity materials.

Vajpayee, who has been out of public gaze for a long time, is missing from the posters, hoardings and banners put up across the city ahead of the rally that marks the starting of BJP’s campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.

The posters and banners display the pictures of the party’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani and BJP president Rajnath Singh, besides local leaders.

When asked to comment, BJP state president Rampati Ram Tripathi said as Advani will be addressing the rally, he has been given prominence in the publicity materials.

“Atalji is in our hearts… woh to party ke liye mahapurush hai,” Tripathi said.

The BJP leader told reporters that the party will announce its candidates for Lok Sabha polls in July.
