MUMBAI, FEB 27: A fine display of athletecism by Vandana Singh helped Jamnabai Narsee (JN) School, Juhu surpass St Paul, Dadar 11-6 and win the inter-school handball tournament played at the MSSA-Castrol ground, Azad Maidan today.

Vandana (6) and Meghna Kumar (3) were too hot for St Paul defenders, sharing nine goals, with support from Tanvi Patel and Pallavi Shukla. Vandana had earlier scored 11 goals in their 24-2 semi-final win over Auxilium Convent, Bandra.

JN enjoyed a clear advantage in height and were able to receive overhead and long passes which put them 7-3 up at the breather.

St Paul were guilty of missing chances which included three penalties.

Pravina Thokal, who did all the hard work in the middle and scored four goals, did not get support from the others as they were not able to capitalise on the space she created.

Marked by two JN players, she had to stretch both of them to the wings to create more space in the centre.

But her ideas and endeavour were in vain with only ShaiziaSheikh supporting her with two goals.
