Home Minister Shivraj Patil on Friday made an aerial survey of two sites in Uttar Pradesh, which have been shortlisted for the construction of a National Police University.
The Minister’s aerial survey followed an “in-principle” approval given by the Union Cabinet to set up a university aimed at providing quality education, research and other academic activities in police related subjects.
The two shortlisted sites are at Noida and Bhondsi. The Home Minister was accompanied by Special Secretary (Internal Security) M L Kumawat and Additional Director General of BSF A P Singh.
Apart from training the state police and paramilitary forces in police related subjects, the university also proposes to enhance the competence of the police personnel in areas of social and physical sciences.
