December 15: Goals by Veronica Santhmayar and Merril D’Souza spelt a 2-1 win and a place in the final for Carmel of Joseph over St Joseph’s (Vikhroli) `A’ in the Inter-Schools girls under-14 hockey tournament sponsored by Thums-Up at the St Stanislaus High School Ground, Bandra, today.

Snazeya Dhillon scored for the losers. The winners now play Apostolic Carmel Convent (Bandra) in the final. Apostolic Carmel needed a golden goal by Rosita Coelho to beat St Joseph’s High School (Bandra) 1-0 in the other semifinal.

The golden goal also brought victory to St Theresa’s (Bandra) who beat St Joseph’s (Malad) 2-1 in the u-16 Junior Aga Khan tournament for boys at St Andrew’s High School Ground, Bandra. Ashwyn Lobo’s strike in extra-time sealed the match for Theresa’s who scored earlier through Patrick Concessio. Amar Patel scored for St Joseph’s.

Nishit Karkera scored thrice in St Francis D’Assisi’s 5-3 victory over Fr Agnel (Vashi). Christopher Rodrigues and Steven Quadros scored the other goals for the winners with Johnny Jose, Pandi Daver and Jude Pande scoring for Fr Agnel.
