At a joint rally on Friday, DMK president M. Karunanidhi and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi asserted that ‘‘vested interests’’ would not succeed in creating a rift in their alliance. ‘‘Some forces are unable to digest the coming together of Congress, DMK and other parties under DPA and are unleashing a false propaganda against the alliance. But, try as they might, they won’t succeed,’’ said Karunanidhi. Echoing his sentiments, Sonia said: ‘‘The Congress will strive its utmost to ensure cohesive functioning of the alliance and its success.’’
