Vakharia said another problem faced by the miscellaneous Gujarati schools in UK and South Africa was the shortage of efficient Gujarati speaking teaching staff. “We hope to work on a system whereby teachers from here can find employment with such schools,” he said.

Five resolutions were passed at the final session of the three-day World Gujarati Meet on Monday, prominent among which was the establishment of the Narmada Samarthan Cell’ to gather world-wide support for the Sardar Sarovar Project. Another resolution sought to put into implementation the suggestions made by the experts at the meet for the economic and commercial growth of the nation at an international level.

It was also resolved to observe the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on October 31 by Gujaratis all over the world as Gujarat Gaurav Din’ and to commemorate the centenary of Pt Omkarnath in 1999 by organising various programmes.
