Army Chief Gen N.C. Vij reacted strongly to Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma’s statement and denied that the Army was involved in the fake surrender of ‘‘militants’’ at Nagrota recently.

Talking to mediapersons after reviewing the passing-out-parade at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) here, Vij said politicians should not drag the Army into controversies. The J-K Deputy CM had said in Jammu yesterday that there was a possibility that some Army officials were involved in the fake surrender which was first highlighted by The Indian Express.

Most of the ‘‘militants’’ who had surrendered at a ceremony at the Army’s Corps Headquarters at Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir were found to be innocent persons made to pose as militants promised with government jobs.
