ZAGAN (POLAND), July 24: IWM Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman of India scored a fine win over Isabel Werner of Germany while compatriot IM Abhijit Kunte continued his fine run holding fifth seeded GM Boris Avrukh to a draw in the 9th round of the World Junior Chess Championship here yesterday.In the girls section, WGM Elina Danielian (Armenia), WGM Maia Lomineishvilli (Georgia) who defeated Marta Zielinska (Pol) and Maria Sergeeva (Kazakstan) shared the lead with seven points each. Overnight leader IWM Joanna Dworakowska (Poland) drew with WGM Harriet Hunt of England.Vijayalakshmi (6) improved her chances for top honours with a fluent win over 22nd seed Werner with white pieces. She now shares the 6th place with seven others and meets 7th seed Monica Boborowska (Pol) in the 10th round.IM Hristos Banikas of Greece shot into lead in the boys section with 7 points scoring an upset victory over top seed GM Alexander Morozevich of Russia. Six players are in the second spot with 6.5 points.Kunte (5) held Avrukh (2550) of Israel to a creditable draw with black pieces. Abhijit has proved himself rock solid so far, holding his highly rated and more fancied opponents to draws. He next faces 21st seed IM Mihail Stojanovic.
