CHANDIGARH, Dec 22: Government College, Sector 11 outclassed Sri Guru Gobind Singh College-26, 3-1, in the Punjab University Inter-College zonal men’s tennis tournament being played at PU Campus here today.
Vikas Sharma gave a flying start to GC-11 by defeating Prabhjot (SGGS-26) 6-0, 6-1. However, his team mate Rohit struggled to hold on his serves and went down fighting to Bramdev 4-6, 6-2, 4-6, in the second singles.

As expected Vikas played his heart out to score a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Brahmdev, in the reverse singles to win the set and wrap up the contest (3-1).
GC-11 will take on last year’s defending champions DAV College, Chandigarh in their next encounter to be played tomorrow.
Last year’s runner-up, PU Campus will play their first match against Punjab Engineering College (PEC) on December 25. The final is slated for December 26.
Football trials
Trials to select 25 probables for the forthcoming under-19 junior national football championship for BC Roy Trophy to be held at Manipur from January 17, next year, will be held on December 24 at 2.30 p.m., at Sector 17 Football Stadium.
According to Rakesh Bakshi, secretary, Chandigarh Football Association (CFA), players born on or after January 1, 1980, are eligible for the trials.
Yoga team
An 11-member Chandigarh yoga team including four in the girls section will take part in the 23rd National yoga championship to be held at Bijnore (Uttar Pradesh) from December 24 to 27.
