NEW DELHI, January 17: Vikrant Choudhry of UP astride Toofan emerged the best cadet in show jumping while Shiv Kumar Gautam of Rajasthan astride Prithviraj came second in the NCC horse show, organised as part of the NCC golden jubilee Republic Day Camp which concluded here today.

This was the first time the horse show was being held at the ground prepared by the NCC within the camp campus.

Mounted ride past, tent pegging, show jumping and band display were the highlights of tthe show today. R K Sahoo of Orissa and Kiranjit Singh of Punjab were declared first and second, respectively, among boy riders while Asha Bhardwaj of Uttar Pradesh astride Malani and Akanksha Shrivastava of Madhya Pradesh astride Rekha were adjudged first and second, respectively, among girl riders.

G Srinivas of Andhra Pradesh astride Payal won the Roop Jyoti Sharma Trophy for the best tent pegger. Neeraj Gupta of Madhya Pradesh astride Prince was declared the second best in the competition. The best rider competition at all-India level was introduced in 1967.

The NCC has R&V units affiliated to agricultural universities to give equestrian training to boy and girl cadets in addition to basic military training.
