
MUMBAI, May 2: Vilesh Bhat of Mumbai held Charudutt Jadav of Mumbai to a draw in the ninth and final round to emerge winner with an aggregate of 8.5 points out of ten on the final day of the All India Open Chess tournament for the blind sponsored by 1-2 Technologies at the Andheri Sports Complex here today.
On the second board, Shirish Patil of Mumbai sidelined Sunil Sasane of Mumbai to finish second with an aggregate of eight points while another Mumbai lad Sanjay Karandikar defeated Rajesh Rajput of Gujarat to finish third with 7.5 points.
Sanjay, Charudutt Jadav and Madan Bagaipkar of Mumbai all finished on 7.5 points each but Sanjay with better progressive score pipped the other two to the third spot.
Jadav, who had a better progressive score than Madan finished fourth while Madan, who had defeated Karthik Damle of Maharashtra, had to settle with fifth spot. Bhat, the winner, was richer by Rs 5000 while runner-up Patil got Rs 4000. The remaining three received Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000respectively.
