CHANDIGARH, SEPT 15: Skipper Vineet Jain's (40 and 2 for 16) fine allround performance and seamer Ajay Sikka's hostile spell (3 for 16) fashioned hosts Chandigarh's convincing 34-run win over Panchkula in the rain-shortened one-day Haryana Inter-District Pataudi Trophy match here today. After the match was reduced to 25-over-a-side game due to overnight rain, Panchkula put Chandigarh in. It seemd a wise decision as Panchkula bowlers kept a tight leash on Chandigarh batsmen. Then came the late-ordder blitzkrieg by Vineet.Vineet blasted three sixes off a Vinod Binta over, which cost 22 runs, as Chandigarh finished their innings in a flourish. They totalled 143 for 9. Apart from Vineet, Randhir Nain scored 28.Panchkula's batting wilted under pressure owing to their inexperience. Still, credit must also be given to Ajay Sikka's intelligent spell in which he accounted for three wickets, giving very little away. After Narinder Walia had done his part initially, Girish Bhanot was the only one to offer any hopes the team.
