In a significant development, former Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) S S Virk yesterday rejoined his parent cadre state Maharashtra. Virk, who was suspended by the Punjab government, met top government officials in Maharashtra, including state DGP P S Pasricha.
The move comes despite the Punjab government putting its foot down on relieving him. However, sources said Virk who joined as a suspended officer in Maharashtra had the official consent of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on the issue of relieving.
The Maharashtra government today sent an official communique to the MHA seeking a clarification on the issue of Virk’s place of posting.
